Vitsebsk dweller Ryzhou placed in remand prison

Siarhei Ryzhou, the participant of a presidential campaign of 2010, is arrested and placed in a remand prison.

According to Vitebsk doctor Ihar Pastnou, Ryzhou was detained about 3 pm on January 23 in the apartment of an independent journalist Uladzimir Zhyhulou. Official reasons for detention are still unknown. It is expected that it will be known on January 26 after Ryzhou's mother visit to a legal investigator.

Pastnou assumes the detention can be related to the criminal prosecution of Ryzhou which began about a year ago when he was accused of hooliganism and resisting police officers. In February 2014 Ryzhou left for Russia and came back home a few days ago, Pastnou told BelaPAN.

The day before Ryzhou stated he intended to run for Presidency again. In 2010 his initiative group did not manage to collect 100 thousand signatures required for registration of a candidate.
