Three Russians have been charged with espionage in the United States, Russian radio station Ekho Moskvy reported on Monday, with reference to Reuters.

"[The three] are Evgeniy Buriakov, Igor Sporyshev and Viktor Poddubniy,” the station reported.

“It is reported that Buriakov is a bank employee, Sporyshev is a Russian trade representative, and Poddubniy is an attaché of the Russian mission to the UN. They have been under surveillance since 2012," the radio station said.

According to the U.S. internet news Web site BuzzFeed, one of the detainees was involved in gathering economic intelligence and recruiting other agents.
