Director Volha Mikalaichyk taken from prison

(updated 11:30 pm) The authorities disrupted a meeting of Volha Mikalaichyk near the prison in Akhrestsina Street.

The Director had to be released today at 9:25 pm, but the people who came to the prison in Akhrestsina Street did not manage to meet her. Yulia Stsiapanava, the activist of the civil campaign "European Belarus", informed charter97.org.

"Volha Mikalaichyk had to be released at 9:25 pm. But it is most likely she has been taken from prison. People who met her gave a call to Accident bureaux. Duty officer promised to figure out where the people missed", she said.

The activist noted that people stayed alongside the prison, but after a while the riot police arrived there.

Riot police platoon arrived at Akhrestsina Street. Duty officer from Center for Offenders Isolation swore that there was no Volha Mikalaichyk. He said she had been released two hours ago", Yulia Stsiapanava said.

At 11 pm it only became known the director was at home. She was taken from prison on the eve of the completion of administrative arrest.

Volha Mikalaichyk was arrested for 5 days together with the rally's participants in memory of the "Heavenly Hundred", which was held near Taras Shauchenka monument in Minsk on January 22.
