The opposition leaders have called upon the international community not to recognize the results of the president elections in Belarus.

It was stated at a joint press-conference in Minsk on October 11 in the evening, reports BelaPAN.

“What’s going on now, is not elections,-- stated Mikalai Statkevich.—There is no a democratic candidate. And our position is to ignore this campaign. But we used this campaign to expand the freedom space for Belarus, for Belarusian people.

In fact, “Power to the People” campaign was launched yesterday. Lukashenka has stolen the elections, and thus has stolen the possibility of changing the power, has stolen the power from the Belarusian people. We are going to use different forms in our campaign, among other things we are going to carry on street activism.

And if during this time the authorities don't come to terms with the people, if there aren't any real changes in the electoral legislation, there won't be any point in taking part in elections, and there will be only one way to win the power back, and, unfortunately, it won't have anything to do with elections at all. I'm absolutely sure that the people will get back the power. Social tension is inevitably going to increase. The present Belarusian regime with its economic model has run its course. People will use force to get the power back, if Lukashenka doesn't agree with reforms, political ones in fist place. He is such a type that one would have to fight to snatch something out of his teeth. So it'll be extorted as well as his jaw in addition to it. Let Mr. Lukashenka choose which scenario suits him best.

My impression after monitoring at the polling station: I felt really sorry for all those people who were there. No matter who they voted for, there must have been certain feelings and emotions implied in their choice nobody cared for as the final protocols had been completed well in advance. Who they voted for is the list important. I'm really sorry for the people-they have been used in a dirty and negligible way. And it should be stopped,” Anatol Lyabedzka said.

“The political campaign under the title of “the elections of the president of the Republic of Belarus,” has been finished – Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu said. “We do not consider the electoral farce, played by the Belarusian regime, as elections, and we do not recognize these elections.”

There are more than enough grounds for that, he stressed. “It includes not only the information from independent observers, but also the fact that the regime had carried out falsification,” – the politician said. – “Never before the regime had been driving people to polling stations for early voting at such an extent. From experience of the previous campaigns we know that 100% of falsification of the election results takes place.”

According to Nyaklyaeu, this electoral campaign could be named “anything but elections.” “It is mocking the nation, mocking the citizens of Belarus. We call upon the international community to treat it the events of October 11 exactly in this way, and under no circumstances recognize these elections,” the politician noted.
