Statkevich: Russian Airbase in Belarus Aims against Kyiv

Russian airbase involves new threats to Belarus’ safety.

Former presidential candidate and political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich stated that at the rally held yesterday, Svabody Square, Minsk. Radio Svaboda reports.

It’s clear that military base aims against Kyiv. We do not want the threat to fraternal people to arise from our land, even if it originates from another our fraternal peoples. We don’t need it”, he said.

The politician pointed out that the Belarusians were becoming government’s hostages.

“The dictatorship pushes us to a global war and makes us a target for some aims. To stay on the post for a year or two, Lukashenka makes us a possible target even for a nuclear strike. Lukashenka is war,” Mikalai Statkevich stated.

It should be recalled that on October 4 there was held the action against Russian military airbases in Belarus.
