DPR and LPR Cancel Fake Elections

The "DPR" and "LPR" have agreed to cancel sham elections scheduled for Oct. 18 and Nov. 1, postponing them until Feb. 21, 2016.

This was announced during the talks in Minsk by the representatives of the "DPR" and "LPR" Denis Pushilin and Vladislav Deynego, Censor.NET reports citing the statement posted by militants on the Internet.

The statement reads: "We are pleased to note that the proposal by the "LPR" to postpone the elections in the Donbas until Feb. 21, 2016, provided Kyiv implements the political items of "Minsk II," has been considered by the "Normandy Four." We have studied the statements and recommendations of Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande on the results of the Paris Summit in October. We have had consultations with representatives of the OSCE and Russia today in Minsk. We have also been instructed by our leaders Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky. As a result, we announce the "DPR" and "LPR" agree to postpone the elections scheduled for Oct. 18 and Nov. 1 until the next year."

According to militants, by that time, Ukraine is to grant a special status for the Donbas, prevent any prosecution and punishment of persons - participants of the events in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as revote amendments to the constitution, which are to be preliminary agreed upon by terrorists.

At the same time, the "DPR" and "LPR" say they will join in the work on a special bill on elections only after the rules of the Contact Group and its working subgroups are approved.

"We believe that a special bill on elections, as well as draft amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine and other acts shall be initialed by all participants of the Minsk talks. Should the agreed text be changed by the Verkhovna Rada or otherwise, we shall consider it is a flagrant and unacceptable violation of the Package of Measures," militants stressed.
