180 Thousand Belarusians Work In Underemployment Mode

In January – September 2015 181.8 thousand workers of industry were put on short time involuntarily.

This is 2.1 times more than in January-September 2014, employees of the manufacturing industry amounted to 97% of the number, BelaPAN reports referring to the National Statistics Committee.

The number of employees transferred to part-time working week (in the afternoon) on the initiative of the employer has increased by 2.7 times and amounted to 84.4 thousand people. The number of employees who were granted vacation leaves at the initiative of the employer has increased by 1.7 times up to 91.9 thousand people.

However, the number of employees working in underemployment mode decreased from 49.7 thousand people in August, 2015 to 36.7 thousand in September.

Due to short time involuntarily in January-September 2015 the total number of non-worked time in the industry amounted to 2.543.900 man-days (in January-September 2014), including 2.466.800 man-days in the manufacturing industry (874.5 thousand in January–September last year), which is equivalent to the daily absence of work of 13 thousand people (4.6 thousand in January–September 2014).

In addition, in January-September 2015 153.4 thousand people in the industry were in a whole-day dead time, 98.4% of them were employees of the manufacturing industry. Due to the whole-day dead time in the industry 2.952.400 man-days were not worked out, including 2.926.700 man-days in the manufacturing industry.
