Nobody Wants To Buy Belarusian Tractors In Ukraine

The demand for Belarusian tractors has drastically reduced in Ukraine.

The main reasons are high prices for the products of the Minsk Tractor Plant, competition from European and Asian manufacturers, as well as the general decline of the Ukrainian market of agricultural and construction equipment, "Radio Racyja" reports.

A Belarusian tractor Belarus MTZ-892, which has been the most popular with Ukrainian farmers recently, is sold by an authorized dealer for 530,000 Ukrainian hryvnias, which is about 24,000 dollars. One can buy two similar Chinese tractors Dongfeng for the same money. Despite the fact that Belarusian vehicles have good reputation in Ukraine, sales of Chinese tractors are much better primarily because of the low price. Those Asian manufacturers offer a much wider range of machinery.

Wealthy Ukrainian farmers refuse to buy both Chinese and Belarusian agricultural vehicles and choose European ones. A five-year old New Holland tractor costs about 40,000 dollars in Ukraine, but the money invested in it pay back due to a longer service life and fewer breakdowns. Economists believe that next year the sales of the Belarusian tractor equipment in Ukraine will further reduce.
