Political prisoner Rubtsou files a lawsuit against the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Yury Rubtsou appealed to the District Court against Administration of the institution of open type No. 7 and Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Convicted activist asks the Court to recognize a number of paragraphs of rules of the Internal Regulations of the institution, approved by the Decree of the Ministry of Internal Affairs № 212 from 30.11.2000, unconstitutional, contrary to Article 41 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, Article 8 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and Article 2 of the Forced Labour Convention No. 29, Radio Svaboda reports.

The Administration makes convicted 4 hours per week clean cabinets and territory, repair buildings for free. Though the punishment does not stipulate forced labour for free.

Yury Rubtsou also asks to cancel his disciplinary penalties imposed by the Administration for refusing to participate in pay-free labour.

Yury Rubtou punished for insulting Minsk judge Kiryl Palulekh, sued the activist after Charnobylski Shliakh-2014 rally.

Rubtsou was wearing the t-shirt with inscription "Lukashenka, go away!". Police detained the activist and brought him to court wearing pants only. The judge Kiryl Palulekh agreed to try Yury wearing this t-shirt. According to the judge, Rubtsou called him "bastard".
