Aleksander Kwaśniewski: Russia’s neighbours justly fear “hybrid war”

The Trans-Caucasian region and the Baltic States can become the next targets of Russia’s aggression.

This statement was made by the former Polish president Aleksander Kwaśniewski in a TV program on TVN24, Wpolityce.pl informs.

As said by him, Russia’s neighbours justly fear that the scenario of the “hybrid war” could be repeated on their territory. Aleksander Kwaśniewski convinced that since 2005 Vladimir Putin had been preparing a scenario of the Russian empire’s revival.

“There is no ideology in that. He wants to create a strong Eurasian Union, where Russia is to dominate. He certainly needs Ukraine for that. He would probably think of involving countries of the Central Asia as well. It seems to me that his ambitions have not ended in the South Caucasus, it means that Armenia is not the limit. It seems to me that Georgia is considered as a part of this strategy, as well as Azerbaijan,” Kwaśniewski said.

He added that he is satisfied with the decision of the Great Britain to provide assistance to Ukraine, including military assistance.

“In political terms Cameron is right. If we want to help sovereignty of Ukraine, we should help institutes of sovereign Ukraine, and among other things – the army, police, border guards,” he stressed.
