Sellers expose goods at new prices.

Before the New Year, the Ministry of Commerce prohibited to raise prices under threat of closing shops. First, moratorium was valid until January 15, and then was declared indefinite. However, on February 3 the Trade Ministry together with the Ministry of Economy issued the order and explained how importers could raise prices, Euroradio reports.

Customers started to buy buckwheat, butter, rice and sugar. Besides, it happened as soon as Belarusian ruble started to fall.

They bought about 20 packages of sugar, buckwheat, rice, oil. And now they are on shelves", saleswoman Tatstsiana from Euroopt in Nesterova Street says. Shelves are really empty!

There are a few packages of rice and buckwheat left. These cereals increased in price: for example, a package of 700-800 grams cost Br9950-12000 (December 25, 2014) and on February 2 prices rose by 30% to Br13-15 thousand for the same 700 grams of buckwheat. Oil "Golden seed" less than a week also increased in price from Br15500 to Br18900 per liter (rose by 22%).

Flour of Belarusian manufacture grew in price as well. Two kilos of high grade "Lidskaya flour" were brought at price Br19900. It is 25% more expensive than on January 25.

There is no sellers changing price tags in the department store "Tsentralny", but prices have already increased: the same set of products increased in price - buckwhet, oil, rice. Most of all vegetable oil – 900 grams cost Br20-23 thousand – increased in price here!

Fruits and vegetables increased in price: for example, if bananas cost here in mid-January Br15-15 thousand, now - Br25 thousand. According to other shops, bananas take the leading position among those extremely raised in price products.

Their price ranges: a kilo costs Br20-25 000. If in 2014, according to official statistics, bananas rose only by 0.2%, in the first month of 2015 they grew by 28%!

The cheapest Polish apples cost about Br13 000, pepper is Br83 000. Buyers and users of social networks write that condoms, tea, coffee and beer also grew in price.

Sviatlana, manager of "Susedzi" store in Prytytskaha Street in Minsk, tells that prices have already risen.

Some products increased by 20-30%. Partially, these are imported goods. Belarusian products cost the same. Today's shipment of beer will be sold at new prices. But I don't know a new price", Sviatlana added.

Fruktest Company, supplying cucumbers, tomatoes and bananas in Belarus, states that 30% price increase has already happened.

"A week ago, prices rose by about 30%. As we see, a good and healthy competition has been established. Even some fruits are getting cheaper, no one is interested in buying expensive. Shelves are filled with gradually. Now we are interested in buying good fruits at affordable prices, as we understand that people became poorer", the company says. It is noted that if there is nothing extraordinary then one should not expect further price increase. Products will increase in price not a lightning-like, but gradually.
