Rental rates in currency to remain

Private owners will not be forced to determine the rental rate in rubles only.

The press service of the State Property Committee informed charter97.org.

The draft decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus "On the introduction of amendments to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of March 29, 2012 No. 150" will not involve the obligation of private property owners to determine rental rates only in Belarusian rubles", the report says.

Chairman of the State Property Committee Andrei Haieu noted that extensive had its aim to improve the rental relations and therefore the State Property Committee thoroughly had examined all comments and suggestions on the norms of the new document, received by the Office.

"Today there are more arguments against rent de-dollarization of private property", the Chairman of the State Property Committee stated.

Its supporters justify the new norm with the rent growth due to the US dollar and euro exchange rate increase, faced by entrepreneurs and legal entities.

The main argument "against" the introduction of rent for real estate property in Belarusian rubles or basic rental units with the annual adjustment is that in case of its adoption it will contribute to the reduction of foreign investments to the economy of the Republic of Belarus, and the rent increase in Belarusian rubles because leaseholders will put risks in the rent. Besides, with respect to these risks, there is a possible risk of construction discontinuation of new objects of private property with a consequent reduction of orders for Belarusian designers, contractors, suppliers and builders.

Representatives of business associations noted that the initiative of de-dollarization of rental relations in general is progressive in nature, but should be introduced with other measures.
