Belarusians paid Br3bn taxes on debts over 2 months

In two months more than 160 individuals have paid income tax on loan.

It was said by head of the main department for taxation of individuals of the Taxes and Duties Ministry Mikhail Rasolka, BelTa reports.

“Over the two months of work more than Br3bn of income tax have been additionally charged on the basis of loans of more than 160 individuals,” Mikhail Rasolka said.

He attracted attention to the fact that the income tax is to be subject to offsetting or returned after repayment of the loan in full.

As it has been informed, since January 1, 2015 Belarusians must pay an income tax on loans, credits, received from other individuals, which are not sole traders, from foreign organisations, which are not carrying out their activities on the territory of Belarus through a permanent establishment, and also from foreign sole traders.

It also concerns those citizens who should offer a property status and tax statement on the demand of tax authorities. For example, in case a person made expensive purchases (real estate property, cars and so on), while one’s salary is low, or had no income at all. If a person indicates in a property status and tax statement that these purchases had been made at the expense of a loan from another individual, he would have to pay an income tax.

An income tax is to be paid within a term of 30 days since the day a notice of assessment was received from a tax authority. The rate of the tax is 13%.
