“Unfreedom Day” for schoolchildren

Parents were told to pledge in written form that their children would be under their supervision during a rally on Freedom Day.

A reader of charter97.org Ihar reports about strange demands to parents of pupils of senior forms in secondary school No.12 in Minsk.

“A friend of mine told me yesterday that parents of pupils of upper forms were ordered to pledge in written form that their children would be under parental supervision from 19:00 to 23:00 on March 25,” the reader writes.

The school administration cannot explain to charter97.org what caused such demands.

“They needed to write it, because pupils of senior forms are involved in out-of-school activities. Perhaps, they take part in sporting events,” a secretary at the headmaster's office said.

A rally on the occasion of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic, one of the key dates in Belarusian history, takes place today.
