Customs Committee limited import of goods for personal use

Limits affected household appliances, laptops, tires.

Since March 10, 2015 a decision adopted by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus to tighten an import by natural persons of certain goods from abroad for personal use comes into force. The press service's statement of the Department says.

"Since March 10, 2015 approaches to attribution of goods taken by natural persons for personal use with a respect to setting of a possibility to import them as goods for private use are changed," the statement says.

According to the document, a person can import into Belarus 1 unit of following products: gas stoves (or electric), cooktops, domestic cooker hoods, kitchen machines, microwave ovens, ovens, baths, shower cabins, sinks, wash bowls, bidets, toilet bowls, water closet supply tanks, domestic refrigerators and freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, domestic coffee machines, domestic sewing machines, domestic water heaters, LCD computer monitors, notebooks (netbooks), Tablet PCs, domestic copying machines, reception apparatus for television connection, air conditioners, grass-mowing machines (trimmers), vacuum cleaners, welding units, household generators, car washing equipment , baby carriages (depending on the age of a child), outboard motors, civil rifled or smooth-bore weapons and parts.

Within two calendar years up to 4 units (up to 2 or 3 with a stroller) for motorcycles, mopeds, motor scooters, summer pneumatic tires (or wheels with summer tires, including second hand) or up to 4 units (up to 2 or 3 (with a stroller) pneumatic winter tires (or wheels with winter tires, including second hand) for each vehicle for personal use owned by a natural person and importing such goods, subject to a customs official documentary evidence of ownership of the means of transport for private use, up to 4 drives to means of transport for private use are allowed, except the imported goods with aggregated customs fees.

Calculation of terms mentioned (3 calendar years and 2 calendar years) will be made since March 31, 2014, the statement of the committee specifies.
