Authorities quickly began to form election commissions

The authorities of Mahileu region are already forming election commissions, although the date of the presidential elections has not been specified yet.

Hotsimsk activist Valery Karankevich told Viasna Civil Right Center.

"I have reliable information that without specifying the date of elections, the authorities accelerated preparation for them," Valery Karankevich said. - At the end of last year all district executive committees received information on the preparation of a list of four candidates for the post of district electoral commissions. The Mahileu Region Executive Committee implements this innovation during the preparations for "elections." Heads of Departments for Personnel of Executive District Committees were given this work to do.

Lutcheuski D.V. was responsible for it in Khotsimski district. He proposed four candidates, including himself. Without delay, the lists of candidates for the post were sent to the regional Election Commission. At the end of January the Mahileu Regional Commission represented by a pensioner Lavrankou G. M., a constant member of election campaigns pensioner Makarenka L. V., as well as a member of the Commission Murashka V. A. (the Deputy Chairman of the Mahileu Regional Executive Committee) in the presence of representatives of special services selected people for these positions. What is contrary to the requirements of the electoral code of the Republic of Belarus "On the formation of election commissions among representatives nominated by political parties, public associations, labour collectives and citizens by filing of applications".

Yury Kurzenkou was approved for the post in Khotsimski region, and his deputy was Lutchankou D.V. And immediately after their approval they began to form district election commissions. Ward election comissions were formed by the same scenario as others.

Thus, the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus will solve all organizational issues before the date of presidential elections. And the agenda remains the same: how can representatives of independent structures get into commissions? The same is done all over the country", Valery Karankevich says.

At one time, Valery Karankevich worked as the first Deputy Chairman of the Khotsimsk Executive Committee, worked in a local Housing and Utilities infrastructure, was in charge of agricultural enterprises in Mahileu and Khotsimski districts and, according to him, he keeps in touch with representatives of the administrative vertical.
