Investigation Committee refuses to look for corruption at Niasvizh police department

Trade union activist Aliaksandr Vaitseshyk received an official reply of the Investigation Committee to his complaint.

The reply is signed by senior lieutenant of justice Aleh Huryn. He says that an inquiry in connection with corrupt practices of officers of the police department of Niasvizh was carried out following Aliaksandr's request, but a criminal case won't be opened due to the absence of socially dangerous acts, prace-by.info writes.

“In my view, it is easy to explain such a reply. Niasvizh is a small town. People known each other. The inquiry was carried out by the chief lieutenant while the policemen were a captain and a major. Perhaps, they didn't look for violations carefully,” Aliaksandr Vaitseshyk (in the picture) said. “I earlier received an answer from the regional police department. Their letter said that no violations were found after a thorough check.”

The right inspector of the electronics trade union does not agree with the results of the Investigation Committee's inquiry. He sent a request to the prosecutor of the Niasvizh district, asking to assess the legality and reasonableness of the decision of the Investigation Committee.

Aliaksandr Vaitseshyk spent three days in a temporary detention faciity in Niasvizh last autumn. He asked to give him a book of complaints at an eating place, but the bartender and the director refused to do it, though the book must be given to a customer upon his request. The activist then called the police.

As the trade union was right, captain Radchanka began to prepare a police report when someone called him. As a result, Aliaksandr Vaitseshyk was taken to a police department, where he was charged with disorderly conduct (article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences) for alleged swearing in public.

Aliaksandr Vaitseshyk spent three days in the temporary detention facility, where he went on hunger strike. He was released only after telephone calls from trade union leaders and journalists.

The right inspector of the electronics trade union filed several complaints over confinement conditions. The republican centre for hygiene and epidemiology of the department of finance and logistics at the Interior Ministry agreed with his arguments and ordered to repair cells in the detention facility.
