Brest journalist fined Br5.4 million

Inna Khomich was found guilty of cooperation with foreign media without accreditation.

Independent journalist was fined 30 basic units (Br5.4 million). Moscow District Court of Brest has taken the decision on April 1, Euroradio reports.

The reason for the administrative case was the publication on the website of Radio Racyja, which appeared in February this year. Police found out that Inna Khomich was the author of the material. A young girl asked for comments on a local Museum of Bread, village Matyl, Ivanava district.

In the court she accepted the fact of work as freelancer.

"I do not deny the fact that I made the news, although it was not signed. In other words, I was acting within the framework of the Constitution. And, if the law on mass media somewhere does not obey the Constitution, this is not my problem," she said.

Inna Khomich adds that most likely she will not appeal against the court order, she does not see the point. The journalist believes the appeal will not be able to change the decision.

It should be reminded that last week Brest journalist Aliaksandr Liauchuk was repeatedly fined for work without accreditation. He was for the second time found guilty of cooperation with the Belsat TV channel and fined 21 basic units (Br3 million 780 thousand).
