Belaruskali's employees demand to cancel Ordinance No.5

More than 1,200 people appealed to Lukashenka, demanding to cancel the “slavery ordinance”.

On April 7, the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Belaruskali sent an appeal of Belaruskali workers, who urge to cancel Ordinance No.5 of December 15, 2014, “On strengthening requirements to the executives and workers of organisations.”

The independent Trade Union of Miners collected more than 1,200 signatures of Belaruskali workers despite the obstacles created by the company management and sent them to the president's administration, npg.by reports.

Head of the trade union Charkasau also sent a legal assessment of the ordinance, saying: “The above said allows to conclude that norms of Ordinance No.5 of 15.12.2014 'On strengthening requirements to the executives and workers of organisations' do not comply with the Constitution, the Labour Code and other statutory regulations of the Republic of Belarus, reduce the level of labour guarantees and discriminate employees in the sphere of employment relations.”

Belaruskali's primary unit of the Independent Trade Union of Miners supports the demand of Belaruskali's workers and offers to cancel Lukashenka's Ordinance No.5 “On strengthening requirements to the executives and workers of organisations” of 15.12.2014, as it does not comply with and violates international norms, the Constitution and current legislation of the Republic of Belarus.

Ordinance No.5 “On strengthening requirements to the executives and workers of organisations” took force on January 1.

The document aims to “eradicate mismanagement, enhance production, technological, labour, and executive discipline, and prevent the re-appointment of ineffective executives from one high-ranking job to another”.

The ordinance was taken controversially by independent experts, who consider it to worsen the legal status of employees and executives.
