"Successes" of Lukashenka's economic policy: loss-making enterprises and crammed warehouses

Recession waits for the Belarusians this year.

More and more foreign institutions make forecasts for negative growth in domestic economy for the first time in 20 years. The Austrian Banking Group Raiffeisen has revised its forecasts towards the development of the Belarusian economy. Its experts believe that gross domestic product will decline by 2% and industrial production by 5%. Last week IMF experts also sounded such forecasts. However, the official Belarusian statistics still corroborates these conclusions: for the first quarter, the gross domestic product fell by 2%.
