Nemtsov murder to be investigated until end of summer

The term to investigate the murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, which was to expire on April 28, has been extended until August 28.

Russian mass media reported that investigators demand the detention of all the five suspects in the case also be extended until the same date. A decision regarding two of them – Khamzat Bakhayev and Anzor Gubashev – is being considered by Moscow's Basmanny court, the BBC said.

The remaining suspects are Zaur Dadayev, Shadid Gubashev, and Tamerland Eskerkhanov. All of them were remanded in custody.

Investigators report that Nemtsov was killed by Dadayev, while others were accomplices. None of the suspects have confessed to the crime.

Neither the organizer nor the contractor of this crime has been established as of yet.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Nemtsov was gunned down on a bridge next to the Kremlin in Moscow late on February 27. Police said the assailants had fired several shots from a passing white car, four of which hit Nemtsov in the back. He died on the scene. Russian authorities reported the murder of Nemtsov could have been a contract killing.
