100,000 – 130,000 citizens can become payers of the new levy.

The Ministry for Taxes and Levies in cooperation with other state agencies has started producing lists of payers of the tax for financing state expenses. According to preliminary estimations, about 100,000 – 130,000 Minsk citizens could become payers of the tax, BelTA was told in an interview by the chief of Minsk Tax and Levies Inspection Uladzimir Lajkou.

- It should be understood that practice is to make adjustments to the decree. And on our part we shall try to respond to them quickly and efficiently. For example, it is written in the document today that mother or father raising children under 7 are not to pay the tax. It is possible that this age should be reconsidered, changed, for example, to 9. A child who has just entered school, started to visit all kinds of study groups and circles, extra-curricular activities, needs special guarding by parents, - Uladzimir Lajkou said.

The official specified that the work on spotting “social parasites” had been carried out by the tax inspection earlier as well. For example, in Q1 of 2015 59 citizen income and owned property returns have been demanded from unemployed citizens, as well as citizens who receive insignificant incomes, but carry out transactions and other financial operations for considerable sums. The economic effect was more than Br467 mln.

- Were there many Minsk dwellers living beyond their means, who have been detected by tax inspection officers last year, and the Q1 of 2015?

- It was found out that for 221 individuals who offered income returns to the tax inspection, expenses outran their income. Violators additionally paid Br7.9 billion to the budget. In Q1 of the current year it was discovered that expenses of 107 individuals had outrun their income. They additionally paid Br1.3 billion of taxes.

Naturally, it is impossible to make a tax inspector follow each of the violators. First of all, tax agencies demand income and owned property returns from those citizens who buy luxury items. For example, cars at a cost of $30,000 and more, elite flats and so on.
