Uladzimir Makei is one of the main organizers of repressions against Belarusian citizens.

ome people consider the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, who participated in the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga, the main "liberal" among Belarusian officials. In fact, Uladzimir Makei worked in special services and played a major role in provocations in December 19, 2010 and in future ones.

Before elections in 2006 Belarusians, protesting against the fraud, were intimidated by the KGB Chairman Stsiapan Sukharenka, in 2010 the head of Lukashenka Administration intimidated Square participants.

Uladzimir Makei took that position. A few months later explosions happened in Minsk. The terrorist attack occurred on April 11, 2011 in the capital's subway. It killed 12 people, dozens were injured.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus was in the list of officials who had been imposed sanctions against. He was denied the entry to the European Union. However, on June 24, 2013 sanctions against Uladzimir Makei were lifted “to facilitate diplomatic contacts."

Belarusian opposition and high-powered human rights organizations subjected it to critics.
