Independent journalist Volha Chaichyts summoned to court

The journalist received summons. Legal proceedings will take place on June 1 in the Dziarzhynski District Court.

"The story I will be fried for tells about police refusal to let our camera crew visit the public discussion of the general Phanipal plan. Thereby, they violated the Constitution which gives the right on gathering and dissemination of information. Besides, I am the Phanipal resident. In the story I specified the surname of the chief of the Phanipal police who did not let us in. It is not surprising that they charge us in Phanipal", she stated to Belsat.

In the beginning of May Volha Chaichyts was invited to the Phanipal police station where she was brought charges under Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code (A work without accreditation on foreign mass media).

The summons to police was related to the story appeared on the TV channel about public discussion of constructions in Phanipal.

The journalist was also interested in a witness who is mentioned in the material of the case. His surname is not mentioned in the story, but the police found him. It is unknown what they were talking about.
