Rosselkhoznadzor: “False transit” from Belarus growing

The amount of smuggled goods from Belarus, which are allegedly meant for Kazakstan but sold in Russia, is growing.

Yezhednevnik learnt it from Svetlana Zemchenkova, the aide to the head of Rosselkhoznadzor's department for Bryansk and Smolensk regions. According to her, Russia's agricultural watchdog detained more than 3,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables that were produced in the EU and violated the rules of transit in 2015. Rosselkhoznadzor notes that the amount of the “false transit” is increasing and forms and methods of crossing the Belarusian-Russian border are being improved

A vivid example is the recent arrest of three vehicles that carried more than 58 tonnes of Polish apples. The route, which destination was Meva Trade company in Kazakhstan, was rather strange. Instead of crossing the Russian state border via the official checkpoint, trucks chose a forest road and got stuck.

They showed documents of Minsk-based MonolitPromInvest company (re-export certificates of the Republic of Belarus) to prove the legality of the import.

Documents No. 001/014-15/01142-Р, 001/014-15/0143-Р,001/014-15/0144-P issued on May 20 were seized for a check. The vehicles were accompanied to Krasny Kamen checkpoint, where they will remain until the situation is cleared up. All agencies interested were informed about the incident.
