Milavitsa factory begins to work three days a week

Milavitsa lingerie factory works three days a week. A part of workers is on “holidays” in May.

Yezhednevnik learnt it from general director of the company Alena Tkachenka.

The working week was reduced due to a decrease in sales.

“It's not a secret that both Russians and Belarusians began to buy less. It affected the work of our company. We sold four of five production units in Russia and Belarus. Taking into account the sales in the first five months of the year and expecting a traditional increase in sales in the summer, we expect our sales in 2015 to grow in relation to the current results,” Alena Tkachenka said.

“The winter decrease in sales caused a reduction in production. Choosing between a long period of shorter working days or shorter working weeks, as many of our colleagues did (a seven-hour working day or a four-day week for a quarter or longer), and a short suspension of work with payment of two-thirds of the salary or a three-day working week for a short period in summer, we preferred the second variant. We think it is more humane and convenient for our staff. The sales and marketing departments continue to work full weeks,” she said.

The factory plans to work in this mode for about a month.

Shorter working weeks were introduced at 80% of Belarusian enterprises due to the crisis.
