Dwellers of Pyatsihodka village near Minsk demand to resettle them

The reason is aircraft noise.

On May 28 a meeting was held in Smalyavichi to discuss the environmental impact assessment of construction of the second takeoff runway in the National Airport Minsk, Nasha Niva writes.

As informed by the ecological fellowship Green Network (“Zyalyonaya Setka”), more than 60 persons were present during the discussion. The main variant, considered by the National Airport, “Preservation of Pyatsihodka (Pyatiletka) village and the Shemetava gardeners’ partnership” was presented.

In order to minimize and prevent negative impact of noise on settlements nearby, the authors of the project offered to limit takeoff and landing on the second runway for some planes, and also construct a 6-metres noise screen. Besides, the developers agreed to carry out reconstruction of the housing facilities in the village of Pyasihodka: renovation, facades’ heat insulation, change of windows, repairing of roofs – increasing of acoustic insulation of houses.

However local dwellers do not believe that it would help.

Not only Pyatsihodka, but 15 more settlements are to become a part of the zone of the impact above the allowable level. The highest noise is heard in Smolnitsa and Hancharouka, Shemetava and Pekalina.

Local inhabitants would like a programme of relocation and providing them other houses in exchange to be implemented.
