Azarenka loses to Williams at French Open

Belarusian number one Victoria Azarenka failed to reach Round of 16 losing to world number one Serena Williams of the United States 6-3, 4-6, 2-6 at the French Open.

It is Serena Williams' 16th victory in 19 meetings with Victoria Azarenka on court.

Victoria Azarenka, seeded 27th, beat Maria Teresa Torro Flor of Spain (World No.131) 6-2, 6-1 in the opener and saw off Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic (World No.61) 6-2, 6-3.

Victoria Azarenka made her ninth appearance at the French clay courts. Her best result was the French Open semifinal in 2013 where she lost to Maria Sharapova of Russia. Last year Victoria Azarenka did not play in Paris due to an injury while Maria Sharapova claimed the title.
