Belarusians in Ukraine made to remove St George ribbons from cars

It happened in a parking lot near the central market in the Ukrainian town of Korosten (Zhytomyr region) on June 11.

The newspaper Nash Korosten writes on Facebook that Belarusian guests forgot where they came to.

“They had ribbons of Saint George on their cars. The same ribbons are used by Donbas separatists for the decoration of their vehicles and military hardware to identify their fighters and the decoration of their fake flags. No surprise that activists turned attention to the Belarusians and called the police and the Security Service. They also blocked their cars so that the Belarusians couldn't escape.”

The newspaper writes that policemen made a report and talked to the guests.

“The Belarusians, who are always welcomed in Ukraine, removed the ribbons with shaky hands and promised not to repeat the mistake,” Nash Korosten reports. “The question remains how their cars passed the checkpoint and customs, and why border guards didn't talk to them and didn't make them remove the ribbons on the border.”

The newspaper notes separatism in Donas began with St George ribbons, Russian flags and placards “Putin, save us” and “Send troops”. Dwellers of Korosten were called to be vigilant and nip separatism in the bud.
