There is a ground fire at the former military ground in Stolin district.

Fire suppression is hampered by unexploded munitions.

On June 15, at 8 am Emergencies Ministry got a message about a ground fire at the former military ground (150 hectares) in Stolin district.

Saver could not take immediate actions to suppress fire because of unexploded munitions and absence of access routes. "There were 7 explosions within 12 hours and no injuries", tut.by is informed.

The aviation monitors the situation.

"As of 10 am, June 16, fire ran through 80 ha", Emergencies Ministry informs.

65 people of the nearest foresters and 35 savers, as well as rescue equipment, are involved in fire suppression.

Situational staff for emergency recovery lead by the head of Brest Regional Department of Emergencies Ministry is working at the site.

Emergencies Ministry and Ministry of Forestry ask citizens to refrain from visiting forests. At the moment an issue with official ban to visit them is being resolved.

During the ban all barriers to forests are put down, if necessary, there will be installed information plaques about the ban on visiting forests and responsibility for violations. It is allowed to drive only to human settlements and equipped places of resort. During the ban making fire in forests and peat bogs is not allowed.

The violation causes fine 25 basic units (Br4.5 million). In case of damage to a forest or peat bogs the fine equals 25-50 basic units (Br4.5-9 millions). Making fire in not allowed places provides responsibility to a warning or a fine up to 12 basic units (Br2.16 million).
