Full teams of workers quitting Gomselmash plant

Regular labor force is leaving the major manufacturer of agricultural vehicles, Gomselmash, because of the crisis.

As it is said by representatives of the plant, very nearly entire teams of workers are resigning.

In the end of May another order was received from the management team: all Fridays in June are to be free of work, with partial pay. Besides, lists of workers whose work is less important for functioning of the enterprise, are to be made. One of workers shared pictures of the order with Belsat TV channel.

In December, as said by workers, as many as 10,000 combine harvesters, which had not been sold, were hidden at the plant. In the new year the former Prime Minister Myasnikovich noted that the enterprise became problematic one, but there was a hope.

In May the plant was visited by the current Premier Andrei Kabyakou, who optimistically stressed that Gomselmash is a Belarusian brand, which is alive and is going to live. However now it is June, and only 2 machines out of 20 are working.

Gomselmash is not the only problem of the Belarusian economy: 80% of Belarusian enterprises have part-time working day now. Milavitsa works three days a week, Atlant which produces refrigerators has stopped the assembly line altogether, MAZ and BelAZ have been quitted by one tenth part of workers because of difficulties. According to predictions of independent analysts, by the end of the year the number of people engaged in production could drop even to 80,000.
