BPF demands explanations from the Security Council and Defence Ministry of Belarus about the statement of the Russian Defence Department on "significant changes in Russian combined arms group in Belarus".

Press-service of the Belarusian Popular Front reports that the party addressed the Security Council and Defence Ministry of Belarus for explanations:

"As of Interfax", on June, 2015 General Yuri Yakubov, coordinator of the Department of General Inspectors of the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation, stated that soon "Russian combined arms group in Belarus will experience significant changes".

According to open sources, the BPF party possesses information about deployment of two Russia's military sites in the Republic of Belarus - radio communications set "Antei" and Volga-type Radar Station - as well as about Russian war planes disposition in the Baranavichy district. Open sources have no information about "Russia's combined arms group" in Belarus, Radio Svaboda reports.

According to Article 40 of the Constitution and Article 59 of the Concept of the national security of the Republic of Belarus, the BPF addresses the Security Council and the Defence Ministry of the Republic of Belarus with the demand to confirm or dispose of the fact about combined arms group disposition of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

In case of confirmation of specified group in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the BPF party demands from the mentioned structures to inform citizens of the Republic of Belarus about legal reasons for arms group dislocation, its numerical strength and disposition regions."

General Yakubov declared reinforcements of a Russian group in Belarus in response to US plans for heavy weaponry in the Baltic States, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria.

"If the US heavy combat equipment with tanks, artillery assets and other combat equipment appear in these countries, it will be the most aggressive step since the "Cold War" in the past century. And Russia has nothing left, but to beef up its power and resources in the western strategic direction, Yakubov said. - First, we will step up our combined group along the entire western Russian border, involving new tank, artillery and aviation units. Missile brigade in Kaliningrad region will be rearmed in heightened tempo with new Iskander (mobile short-range ballistic missile system; NATO reporting name SS-26 Stone), as well as Russian combined arms group in Belarus is to experience significant changes, and so on".
