Minsk district court to hear cases of European Belarus activists

Maksim Viniarski, Leanid Kulakou and Siarhei Matskoits will be tried in the Minsk district court on June 22.

Activists of European Belarus civil campaign were detained in Minsk on June 19.

BelaPAN news agency learnt it from human rights defender Yulia Stsiapanava, who is also an activist of European Belarus campaign.

The three were detained on Friday evening near a Gippo supermarket in Lahoiski Trakt Street as they were trying to hang out a banner “Freedom for Rubtsou” (opposition activist Yury Rubtsou from Homel was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment on May 28 and recognised prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International).

The activists were taken to the Pershamaiski district police department and later to the detention facility of the Minsk district in F. Skaryna Street.

Viniarski, Kulakou and Matskoits are accused of disorderly conduct.
