The dictator wants law-enforcement bodies to prevent the destabilisation of the situation ahead of the “elections”.

“I'd like to warn you: no unnecessary, stupid and absurd initiatives, like arrests for walking in wrong direction or staying in a wrong place. Try to prevent it, explain and ask. We should not allow any destabilisation in the country!” BelTA news agency quotes Lukashenka as saying at a meeting to discuss the country's domestic policy.

He stressed that ensuring security is especially important in the context of alarming events in the international arena and near Belarus' borders. The ruler noted: “Heads of all government bodies should ensure clear and steady operation of the state machine, tough executive discipline and maximum coordination of efforts of the authorities and law enforcement bodies.”

According to previous reports, the Belarusian Central Election Commission (CEC) proposed holding the presidential “elections” on October 11. Earlier, November 15 was named as the most probable election day.

The final decision on the presidential “elections” will be made by the “parliament” on June 30.

None elections in Belarus have been recognised by the international community since 1996. CEC head Lidziya Yarmoshyna was banned from entering the EU and the US for rigging the results of the 2004 elections. Restrictions were also imposed on almost 200 Belarusian officials after the 2010 elections.
