Ananich: Information Ministry to dive into analysis of mass media activity

Information Ministry of Belarus "keeps a careful eye" on each citizens' appeal about work of mass media.

Lilia Ananich, Head of the Department, informed journalists on June 30, BelaPAN reports.

"We are focused on each owner of an Internet-resource, first of all, could make his own decision of his responsible behavior at the media scene, Ananich said. - Information Ministry, within its competence, dives into analysis of mass media activity against compliance with legislation in mass media".

According to the Minister, the information space in Belarus with Internet-resources burgeons. "Today we are an open information space. We have the access to the world of information. And, of course, the requirements of the law on mass media should be strictly adhered to," Ananich emphasized.

She said since the beginning of the year the access to 26 Internet resources had been blocked. "Five of these resources have been blocked for deceptive advertising of drug products, she noted. - It is not only a violation of the law on mass media, but even new illegal activity. I think that the owners of these Internet resources are abroad, they do not complain as they understand that their incorrect behavior on the part of law does not give a right for resumed access to the Internet resources.

Ananich also said that hata.by and kyky.org are already available. "Owners of these resources did their best to remove the information that confronted the law", she said.

Ananich's comment on the question about blocked access to kyky.org after an editor's-at-large opinion of May 9 was as follows: "I guess press release of the Information Ministry was enough to explain all the reasons. Every Belarusian should consider the topic of the Great Victory and historical truth sacred. So, there should be no place for insinuations and insulting utterances".

Ananich also stressed that the Information Ministry kept a careful eye on each citizens' appeal about work of mass media.
