Dinamo Brest goalkeeper: Kalinouski is our national hero

Dzmitry Dudar, Dinamo Brest goalkeeper, called a person whom he considers a national hero of Belarus.

He told Pressball.

- You said that signer Egor Letov, author Vasil Bykau, historical figure Kastus Kalinouski are your favourites. The range of interests is impressive.

- I was born in Hrodna. It is a cultural city with a Belarusian aura. Besides, I studied in a gymnasium. And if it hadn't hit the youth team surely I would have plunged into study and committed myself to legal activity. I had the makings, constantly participated in different competitions.

When I was in Dinamo Minsk, I entered the BSU and held 18 months of a full-time course at the law department. And what about those people mentioned in the list... It is just pieces. I often listen to Letov, Tsoi, play their music on guitar. Kalinouski is our national hero. Bykau is an iconic author with his own civic position. Unfortunately, it is rarely discussed in Belarus. National culture and self-consciousness is in decline. It is not a norm, Dudar said.
