Vasil Shlydnikau: Real crisis is yet to come

The management has bound our economy to Russian. Now we have the result.

Belarus is only on the verge of crisis, it is the result of the economic policy pursued for last two decades. Vasil Shlydnikau, member of United Civic Party and former Director General of Amkodor, told Radio Racyja.

"Belarus has soviet industry... Nothing was done to reform it and adapt to market conditions. Those who tried to do it, and then regret it", the expert says.

We have bound our economy to Russian. Now we have the result. And it is only the beginning. 'The best' is yet to come. We should not expect lifting sanctions, because of the current policy of Russia towards Ukraine and the West. Tougher sanctions are likely to happen, the conflict in the Donbass has the tendency to escalation. It means that Belarus and Russia continue falling on evil days, Vasil Shlydnikau predicts.
