Valiantsin Akudovich: Self-esteem needed to confront authorities
Valiantsin Akudovich

Thanks to opposition, not the government, the memory of previous elections will remain.

Valiantsin Akudovich, Belarusian writer and philosopher, laureate of literary awards stated that in his interview with Radio Svaboda.

"Even an active part of the Belarusians has not only removed from the elections, but even strain at them, he said. - Another question appears to be logic. Why did public moods fade away? There are a lot of reasons. Well, to cut a long story short, during the continuous power contest the Belarusian regime has finally discredited the institute of the presidential elections. Therefore, it collects signatures for its political opponents. I mean the way they close their eyes on blank fills.

I have already said that current elections are offence to human dignity. Therefore, I guess the only right thing is to demonstrate moral imperative. Simply said, to rally behind Mikalai Statkevich".

Valiantsin Akudovich stresses that he offers not only to achieve the release of the political prisoner through registration as the presidential candidate.

"I wish I could stand next to Mikalai Statkevich and turn my back on so-called elections, philosopher stated. -Thus, contrary to the authority's political calendar, we would have drawn our moral one with a cornflower blue revolution of dignity.

To implement it, we should have self-esteem. The Belarusians are extremely short of it. Almost all of us suffer the same".

Valiantsin Akudovich compared it to events of 2006 and 2010.

"Thanks to opposition, not the government, the memory of previous elections will remain, he says. In 2006 it was the Square with a tent camp. It was the one, which made the difference. To a far greater degree it affects the elections in 2010. The same Square, but with cruel, even for our government, mob dispersion and mass beating of people, as well as taking the streets by tens of thousands of people. That was fantastic.

Without it nobody could recall slogans of 2006 and 2010".
