The joint exercise of paratroopers and special forces of Belarus, Russia and Serbia are to start on September 2 in Krasonodar Krai, Russia.

As Interfax reports, it was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Airborne Troops Vladimir Shamanov. “The purpose of the exercises is preparation and use of the combined force in a special operation for detecting and liquidation of an illegal armed groups’ training centre,” Shamanov informed.

According to the military exercises scenario, “anti-government elements” and regular military formations of an enemy by provocations and terrorist attacks are trying to destabilize the situation in a hypothetical state. Proceeding from that, the command of the combined grouping decided to hold a joint counter-terrorism operation for destruction of illegal armed groups and reinstating law and order.”

As said by Shamanov, at the first stage of the exercises non-lethal weapons are to be widely used (he had not specified which exactly) during “the special operation for riot control and against stirring the tensions according to Maidan scenario.”

The exercises, which are held in such a format for the first time, are to take place on September 2-5 in Raevsky firing range near the town of Novorossiysk. The Russian side is to be represented by a reinforced battalion of the 7th Guards Airborne-Assault (Mountain) Division is an elite guards division, Serbia – an independent airborne company, and Belarus – by 2 companies of special operations forces.

As explained by Shamanov, more than 700 military servicemen are to participate, 20 planes and helicopters, 100 units of military equipment, including Belarusian ones are to be used. Shamanov is to have overall charge of the exercises, while the direct leadership is to belong to the commander of the 7th division, Colonel Roman Breus.
