Official of Minsk regional executive committee detained for Br5 mln bribe

She received the bribe from a CEO of one of firms.

The head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of Minsk regional executive committee has opened a criminal case on charges relating Article 430 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Belarus against 48-year-old dweller of the town of Kopyl, who has no prior criminal record, working as a chief specialist of the anti-monopoly and pricing policy directorate of Minsk regional executive committee, writes a representative of the Internal Affairs Directorate of Minsk regional executive committee.

Being an official who is authorized to carry out analytical and control actions over economic entities of different types of ownership, in her office in Kopyl she was given a bribe, Br 5 million, from a CEO of one of firms. She was given the bribe for a favourable decision within her competence, and namely, for a favourable result of the inspection of the firm, including lowered sum of penalties.

The official has been taken into custody. Further special investigation activities are carried out.
