Secret agents induce Liabedzka to cooperate with authorities at gathering in Minsk

36

The authorities apply a new tactic at opposition street rallies.

Earlier secret services only watched and helped detain participants of rallies, but now they organise provocations, stir up conflicts and try to involve leaders into senseless discussions, Belarusian human rights defenders write on Facebook in the group “Rights Territory”.

“Secret agents and informants are for your attention. Relative liberalisation makes the secret services use them more actively at mass gatherings. Pretending they are demonstrators, they stir up conflicts and hot discussions,” the message says. “After yesterday's gathering of voters on Freedom Square, a woman came to Anatol Liabedzka and began to talk to him about the tactic of opposition. She said opposition must be more radical and said maybe it would be better to cooperate with the authorities. She wanted to provoke a discussion. A Belarusian-speaking demonstrator joined her and spoke emotionally.

The woman also attended the picket on September 16 and the picket organised by Statkevich. Internet users found her partner, who was working at the Chernobyl Way rally without attempts to hide his belongings to secret services. By the way, they leave rallies together with other secret agents.”
