Sergey Lavrov about Russian airbase: We have closest cooperation with Belarus

Russian minister of foreign affairs Sergey Lavrov says Russia and Belarus cooperate in all directions, including the issue of opening an airbase.

It is reported by RIA Novosti news agency.

Answering a question about the plans to set up an airbase in Belarus, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasised: “We have the closest cooperation with Belarus in all issues, including security issues.”

Vladimir Putin signed an order on September 19 on setting up a Russian airbase in Belarus. The Russian president gave instructions to the MFA and the Ministry of Defence to start talks on the issue with Minsk.
