Secret agent at Statkevich's rally: We are waiting for changes

45

Journalists interviewed the participant of the rally on Freedom Square who was earlier noticed at opposition rallies as a secret agent.

The man, who introduced himself as “electrician Nikita” to Radio Svaboda, attended pickets near GUM store on September 10 and 16. He was also noticed at silent protests and Chernobyl Way rally in 2015 in the company of police officers. “Electrician Nikita” talked a journalist.

– You have been at the third similar picket. What do you expect from such rallies?

– Changes, of course.

– What changes?

– Changes in everything.

– What do you do?

– I'm a worker.

– Anatol Liabedzka asked who had a salary of $1000.

– Even our bosses don't receive such a salary, let alone ordinary workers.

– Where do you work?

– Electrical services.

– Are you an electrician?

– Something like this.

– What is you average salary?

– My average salary? I pay child support. I have about 150 dollars with child support. It is about 5 million Belarusian rubles.

– Do you know how much an electrician in Lithuania earns?

– I don't know. I am a flight engineer by profession. Flight engineers earn 5 million rubles here. This is huge responsibility. A specialist of this level in Germany gets 5,000-6,000 euros.

– Did you try to find a job at a firm to earn more?

– I tried. Private firms are in a difficult situation now.

– Do they refuse to hire you? Or do you see no sense in going from bad to the worse?

– I have stability with my current job. Private firms can delay wages for six months.

– You said at the beginning you want changes. Who do you think will perform these changes?

– People themselves. When people realise they need to do something... As of now, they are satisfied that they have something to eat and drink...

– They have something to eat, drink and buy a foreign car...

– Yes, foreign cars... The fridge wins so far.
