Uladzimir Arlou Won Aleko International Literary Prize

The Belarusian writer and historian has become a winner of the Bulgarian international literary award named Aleko.

As BelaPAN was told by Uladzimir Arlou, who returned to motherland on January 18, the award-giving ceremony took place on January 13 in the town of Svishtov, the native town of the Bulgarian classical writer of the 19th century Aleko Konstantinov.

The award was instituted in 1966 and named after the writer, it is given for humorous literary works. The works of Uladzimir Arlou were translated to Bulgarian by a well-known Bulgarian translator Penca Kyneva.

In different years Aleko prize was given to Heinrich Böll, William Saroyan, Maurice Druon, Martti Larni, Vasily Aksyonov.
