The drop in the official exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble in one day is 5.39% to the dollar and by 6.2% to the Euro.

In the exchange offices the Belarusian ruble has got over new psychological barriers.

Even before the National Bank announced the official exchange rate for the ruble as of January 22, commercial banks started to raise prices of foreign currencies. After the National Bank set the Euro price at Br21,564, and Euro at Br23,779, about half of the exchange offices of the capital have written the exchange rate of 22,000 and 24,000 correspondingly, Radio Svaboda informs.

In one of Minsk departments of Belarusbank quite a long queue has gathered. To the question of a reporter, whether all of the people have gathered there to buy dollars, a middle-aged man turned around and said quietly: “One should buy them for sure.”
