One Swallow Does not Make a Summer, Marholin Says
Lev Marholin

The Belarusian government has still no clear privatization strategy.

Economist Lev Marholin informs ucpb.org, commenting on putting up 60 public organizations for sale by the Belarusian government in 2016.

The economist believes that only those enterprises of no actual value are put up for sale.

"As a rule, they are involved in debts and loans, Lev Marholin said. - There are two factors the privatization will depend on: an initial price and corresponding conditions. It is not a secret that the Belarusian government usually overvalue enterprises offered. Besides, they set such conditions: retain the number of employees or type of an enterprise and so on. It significantly reduces the attractiveness of not very attractive proposals enough as it is.

And one swallow does not make a summer. The Belarusian government has still no clear privatization strategy. It is not the first year when they make up lists."

It should be reminded that the State Committee on Property announced selling out of state shares of enterprises and joint-stock companies. 60 enterprises are enlisted.

BATE - holding managing company of Autounits, holding managing company of Horizont, Homel radio manufacturing plant, Minsk plant of heating equipment, Brest radio engineering plant, Evistor plant, Vitsebsk instrument engineering plant, Belarusian ocean company, Promsvyaz, MinskSortSemOvoshch, Vitsebsk Plant of Fruits and Vegetables, Ivatsevichdrev, Vitsebskdrev, FanDok, Spartak paper mill, Ruchaika Kobrin spinning and weaving factory, Pinsk plant of artificial leather, Bobruisk shoe factory are among them.
