Belarusians Have Run Out Of Money. They Don’t Buy Cars As They Used To One Year Ago.

This September did not meet the expectations of car dealers.

Car dealers say that Belarusians have run out of money. Completely. They have no money left even under the matrasses and in the cans. But autumn is traditionally the big sales time in auto retail: 60% of the annual sales of automobiles fall on September-December in the best years, tut.by reports.

A chart of monthly sales of new cars resembles a plateau. In May 2309 cars were sold, in June – 2395, in July – 2278, in August – 2213... By joint efforts of the dealers, members of the Belarusian Automobile Association, 2252 cars were sold in September. And all this despite the fact that prices for new cars were growing at a much slower rate than the analyst have expected. A lot of players even introduced discount actions that warmed up the sales a bit.

Alarming is that the growth of official sales has slowed down. Following the results of the first six months of the year, the sales at the car market had grown by 7.4%. During the first 9 months of 2016 the growth is only 2.7%. If the demand doesn’t grow by the end of the year, the car market will be at risk to go into minus compared to the same period in 2015.

The promised replacement of the mass trips for cars to Russia with the official sales of Belarusian dealers didn’t happen. The reason – total decline in paying capacity of the population.
