The court also decided to confiscate the property of the former General Director of Dynama-Minsk HC.

The public prosecutor requested 6 years of imprisonment in a reinforced regime colony for Maksim Subotkin, plus property confiscation. Judge Dzmitry Tsykal satisfied his demands almost in full scope – Maksim Subotlkin was found guilty under all points. He will spend 5 years in a reinforced regime penal colony, and his property will be seized. He is banned from taking leading positions during 5 years, nn.by writes.

The term of the pre-trial detention will be considered, which means, Subotkin has a little less than four years to serve.

The sentence has not come into force yet and can be appealed.

We remind, Maksim Subotkin was arrested in July 2015. He was charged with abuse of office which led to severe consequences in the form of causing extremely large damage, and with abuse of power and official authority and embezzlement through abuse of office.

A little later, in August, Dynama-Minsk HC General Manager Uladzimir Berazhkou also got under arrest. He was charged with embezzlement through abuse of office.

Berazhkou and Subotkin covered the damage, having repaid almost Br 3 billion, and asked to release them from criminal responsibility in a corresponding plea in Lukashenka’s name. Subotkin admitted the fact of causing damage but said he had no profiteering intentions.

In December 2015, being in the remand prison, he submitted a lawsuit against Dynama-Minsk HC, which fired him. The lawsuit was about illegal dismissal and contained a demand for compensation, but the court took the side of the ice hockey club.

On April 6, 2016 they changed the restraint against Uladzimir Berazhkou from detention to the non-leave obligation and set him free. Maksim Subotkin remained under guard, his pardon plea was declined.
