During a visit to combined arms Obuz-Lesnaya training area the dictator was presented a tribute firearm.

Lukashenka was presented a semi-automatic Mauser K96. It is characterized by accuracy and range of shooting exceeding many modern designs. The gun uses a powerful 7.63 Mauser cartridge and provides for possibility of firing in bursts. Today Mauser K96 is positioned as a small automatic carbine, when using the holster-butt it is possible to conduct automatic fire. Firing range is 200-300 metres.

Mauser was actively used during the First World and the Second World Wars, the Civil War. Honorary Mauser K-96 with the Order of the Red Banner on the handle was presented to Sergey Kamenev and Marshal of the Soviet Union Semyon Budyonny. In 1943, Leonid Brezhnev was awarded with Mauser K-96.
