The authorities can no longer conceal the real economic situation.

The gross domestic product of Belarus in January-October 2016 decreased by 2,8% compared to the same period last year, Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kabiakou has said, interfax.by reports.

"As for the GDP in the last 10 months, we are 2,8% behind compared to the corresponding period of 2015," – Kabiakou has said at a session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Belarus in Minsk on Tuesday.

"As before, the construction sector appears to be the main influence on the result - minus 1,3 percentage points of the GDP, trade gives minus 0,8 percentage points of the GDP, and the processing industry gives minus 0,3 percentage points of the GDP," - the Prime Minister has continued.

According to him, none of the regions has reached the level of last year with regard to the ox regional products (9 months). "Brest (reduction of 1,2%) and Hrodna (-2,1%) regions worked a little better than the others, while Vitsebsk region performed the worst - 5,8% drop."

In 2015 Belarus' GDP fell by 3,9% after rising by 1,6% in 2014.The EDB experts predict a fall in GDP of Belarus on the total in 2016 by 2,6%. The IMF presumes that the country's GDP will decline in 2016 by 3%.
